Camden is a beautiful town in Knox County, Maine with a population just shy of 5,000 at the 2010 census. During the summer months, the population soars due to tourists and summer residents enjoying the beautiful Maine coast. Camden is a famous summer colony in the Mid-Coast region of Maine. Similar to Bar Harbor, Nantucket and North Haven, Camden is well known for its summer community of wealthy Northeasterners, mostly from Boston, New York and Philadelphia.
Camden has always been a “tourist town”, with its lakes, rivers, harbor and mountains. People have been vacationing in summer guest homes in Camden since the mid-19th century.
