Yarmouth Real Estate

First settled in 1636, Yarmouth is your traditional New England village town now with a population of over 8,200 residents and a school system that is considered one of the finest around with the high school ranked high nationally by Newsweek. The quiet town is located approximately 10 miles north of Portland and just south of Freeport on Casco Bay.  Yarmouth also includes a number of islands; Cousins Island, Lane’s Island, Great and Little Mosier, Littlejohn Island, and Crab Islands.

Yarmouth real estate sales remain steady as home buyers appreciate the quaint New England town, the prestige of the public school system, the sense of community, and the ability to limit commercialization of the area. While the town has grown substantially since the early 1960’s when Interstate 295 was created through the town, Yarmouth has maintained its small town charm and character and limited any development. The median sales price of single family homes here tends to be in line with Cape Elizabeth and Falmouth.

The town is also home to an annual tradition since 1965, when every third weekend in July they celebrate the Yarmouth Clam Festival, a real community centric event to help raise money for community and youth groups and programs, which attracts over 100,000 people each year.
